PICTOPLASMA NEWSLETTER / SEPTEMBER 2007 / NEW INSTALLATION & ANIMATION FESTIVAL

After our golden oldies Color Me! and Characters at War traveled the globe, it was getting time to come up with a completely shiny, new installation:

> THE CHARACTER RIDE - touch and be touched!

In cooperation with the world's favorite Japanese artist, Akinori Oishi, we are now deliberately tossing you into an intriguing world of seemingly harmless archetypical beings. For legal reasons, however, visitors must enter at their own risk. We can't be held responsible for making our point: Cute can hurt - physically.

The Character Ride premieres at Todaysart Festival in The Hague, The Netherlands. You're invited to try to tame the beast on the 21st and 22nd of September. For a few more details: http://www.todaysart.nl

On the 23rd, we're right back at our desks for the final selection and programming of the upcoming:

> 2nd PICTOPLASMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL - November 23 - 25, 2007, Berlin

We've been thrilled by more than 1000 international entries of all sizes and colors. The boiled down distillation will send you on an astonishing two-and-a-half day odyssey of overwhelming visual ecstasy. Curated programs of the very best in character driven animation, motion graphics and music visuals will be accompanied by special screenings, presentations and premiers. As always, the lectures are what add the essential spice to the brew. Doudouboy will shed some light on his insanely twisted work, ranging from cold-blooded CGI bunnies to complex robotic toy systems. Over the years, New York based Aaron Stewart has given birth to an out of control population of minimal characters that have been reduced to the max, and he's eager to introduce them to you personally. Award-winning German animation studio Studio Soi, famed for the melancholic dance of a crash test dummy, showcases the fresh visual punch of their technically outstanding work, while Argentinean designer, event o rganizer and entrepreneur gone artist-musician Acampante premieres his latest performance, which revolves around a beach, a thousand birds, flying bears and a tree-eater. We're personally curious about multi-talent David O' Reilly's presentation. He has been singled out by both RES and Creative Review as a talent to watch - and he promised us he would assume full responsibility, should any of his animations send the audience into epileptic fits. And there'll be more to announce as the event draws closer...

The 2nd Pictoplasma Festival is being hosted once again by the charming film theatre Babylon-Mitte, located in the heart of Berlin. As always with Pictoplasma events, we're facing the problem of slightly more demand than amount of seats. So, first come-first served. Online registration is open, so your worry-free festival pass is just a click away.http://www.pictoplasma.com/motion

Hoping to see you this November,
